DESCRIPTION:Registration for this event is required on Eventbrite.\n\n\nAdoptive\, foster\, guardianship\, relative caregiver\, and reunified families — Join us for a special event sponsored by the Wisconsin Family Connections Center and Jockey Being Family\, in partnership with the CEDAR Center! Come spend the morning or afternoon connecting with nature and horses and find out how this can be a way to strengthen connection with ourselves\, our family members\, and other families. You will have the opportunity to experience hands-on games\, activities\, and art projects that will support communication\, empathy\, deepening relationships\, and a sense of community. Horse activities will include brushing\, grooming\, and possibly leading. (The day will not include riding horses.) Snacks and drinks will be provided\, as well as a lunch that will allow the morning and afternoon groups to come together and meet one another. All sensory and disability experiences are welcome. Information you provide about your children’s special needs will be shared with the CEDAR Center. This event will be held at beautiful Rising Spirits Farm in Brooklyn\, WI. In the event of rain\, we will use the barn and indoor arena. All participants will need to fill out a liability release form before interacting with horses. \nPlease register for the morning session (9:30am to noon) if your children are elementary school aged (approximately 6-12). Please register for the afternoon session (1pm to 3:30pm) if you have teens. If you have both younger and older children\, choose the option in which you think your children would do best. Each family should sign up for only one session so that as many families as possible can benefit. \nAbout our facilitator: We are thrilled to be partnering with Elizabeth Seeliger of the CEDAR Center for this event. Elizabeth is a graduate of the Gestalt Equine Institute of the Rockies and is an adopted person as well as an adoptive parent. She has training in Infant\, Early Childhood\, and Family Mental Health\, which guides her work with families. This class is meant to show caregivers how to work with textured hair\, specifically those with 3C to 4B texture.  \nThis in-person instruction at Devine Beauty Salon in Sun Prairie will be hosted by Olena\, owner of Devine Beauty\, who is passionate about blending artistry and education into creating beautiful\, elevated looks while celebrating individuality\, culture\, and confidence. This workshop will take place on Sunday\, May 31st from 10am-12pm. It is a family hair affair (combo course) which will cover textured hair types\, general textured hair care knowledge\, use of products\, as well as hands-on instruction for simple hairstyles. There will also be time for a Q&A! \nA hair care grab bag will be included with your registration.  \nEach ticket is good for 1 adult and 1 child. We will be watching the Green Bay Rockers take on the Wausau Woodchucks on Sunday\, May 31st. This game starts at 1:05pm. Adoptive\, foster\, guardianship\, kinship\, birth\, and reunified families are welcome! \nEach person in your family must be registered for an individual ticket. Each attendee will receive a seat ticket along with a voucher for a hot dog and soda/water along with a Rockers hat.  All children 12 years and under will receive a wristband for the Kid Zone. Our group will all be seated together\, which will allow families to connect and talk with others who have been impacted by adoption or out-of-home care. \nThis event would be a great opportunity to invite your child’s birth/first family or previous foster family. We understand this may not work for all family dynamics but encourage you to consider it. We hope to create an opportunity for children to have all their loved ones in one location whenever possible and create positive memories together. Together Farms invites families to run and play however\, many dangers exist on the farm including electric fences\, animals\, and farm equipment. It is not the responsibility of Together Farms or The Wisconsin Family Connections Center to supervise your children during this event. By registering for this event\, you understand it is your responsibility to supervise your children at all times during this event. Families should be aware that various animals are present on the farm and should be treated with respect. For example\, there are multiple dogs that may be freely navigating the property during our event. Do not interact with the dogs unless they approach you.
